FUNCTIONS:
The agronomy department functions in the research and development of the cultivation technologies and resolutions, the procedures of improved fertilizer use efficiency, physiology and biochemistry, technology transfer, short-term and long-term training on rice and rice-based crops; research collaboration with in-country and international organizations.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Developing the cultivation technologies and resolutions on rice and main crops to fit with sustainable agriculture, input cost and water saving, improved fertilizer use efficiency, and high agri-products quality;
- Formulating and recommending the solutions of soil reform (alkaline, salinity, drought, sodic, Fe/Al/organic toxicity,…) for reducing soil degradation and improving the yield and soil fertility in the Mekong River Delta;
- Building and implementing new sustainable cultivation systems with the advantages of biology, economy, social, and environment-friendly;
- Research on physiology, biochemistry, tolerance, and building intensive cropping resolutions of cereals and plant foods;
- Training for graduates and doctoral degrees, and agricultural extension staff; technology transfer related to the agronomy field.
